Have you been in a vicious cycle of sinning the same sin over and over again? Eccles 1:9 says, “History, merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new.”

There’s really nothing new happening on earth - only old things, happening to new people. The wrong things that we have been doing are the same mistakes that people of the past have done. It’s been said that what’s in the past is prologue and that history repeats itself as time marches on. A study of history shows that the great civilizations of the world last about 200 years and that the people of the world have followed this timetable. People go from slavery to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence all the way back to where we started – slavery. You can put an end to this vicious cycle by following what 1 Peter 2:16 tells us, “You are not slaves; you are free. But your freedom is not an excuse to do evil. Live as servants of God.” Make a choice to stop going round and round as slaves, but rather to serve and be free.
