May 8th-Afternoon | PATH TO GREATNESS
Philippians 2:5 says, “Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had.” Accordingly, one of the soldiers of Emperor Julian the Apostate (who sought to destroy Christianity in the year 363) said to a Christian, “Where is your carpenter now?” The Christian responded, “He is making a coffin for your emperor,” A few months afterward, Julian was wounded in battle and realizing that his death was at hand as he dipped his hand in the blood of his wound, he threw his blood toward Heaven shouting, “Thou hast conquered, O Galilean!” It’s hard to believe that a simple carpenter from Galilee could be great. Success is not always based in aptitude but in attitude. The following verses from Philippians 2:6-8 explain the greatness: “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, He humbled himself.” This is the path to greatness.
