May 9th-Evening | THIS LITTLE OF LIGHT OF MINE

Matthew 5:16 says, “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” I can remember Sunday school children singing: “This little of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, this little of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine all the way.” There’s this story about a sick passenger travelling to India by ship. He heard someone yell out, “Man overboard!” Because he was sick and weak, he wasn’t able to go on deck to help, but he took his cabin light and held it near the window so that it might shine on the open water. A little while after, he heard the relieved yelling of, “It’s all right. He’s safe.” The next day the sickly passenger was told that his timely little lamp was the only light shone that helped the fallen man see the thrown safety rope. Always let your little light shine because a little thing can be a big thing when God is involved.
