May 10th-Afternoon | TAKE CARE OF YOUR EYES
How does your eye serve you?
Proverbs 20:12 says, “Ears to hear and eyes to see – both are gifts from the Lord.” I once brought an elderly woman to an eye care center and it dawned on me that the eyes are one of the most special gifts of God to mankind. They were made to see the beauty of God’s creation and who He is. Now think about how often you use your eyes to see evil and to be enticed into that evil. How would you feel if you gave someone a gift that was later being used for something bad? I read an old story about Zulcucus a lawgiver of the Locrians made a law that adultery should be punished with the loss of both the offender’s eyes; however, the first one who violated it is his own son. This loving but upright judge caused one of his son’s eyes to be put out and one of his own. Jesus made us a new creation when he died for us. The word of God says in Luke 11:34 your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. Take care of your eyes use it for reading His word, seeing the beauty of GOD and His creation. |
