May 14th - Morning | NOTHING’S REAL UNTIL IT GETS PERSONAL

Psalm 28:7 – The Lord is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trust in him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.

In 1860, a huge crowd was watching the famous tightrope walker, Blondin, cross Niagara Falls. He had already made this trip numerous times – a 1,000 foot trip, 160 feet above the raging falls waters. On a lark, he asked the crowd if they believed that he was capable of carrying a person on his back across the falls and the crowd roared their encouragement. Blondin then approached a man from the crowd and asked him to get on his back and go with him but the man refused! You see, nothing’s real until it gets personal. The writer of the book of Psalm was called a man after God’s own heart. David could have given up on God’s promise that he’d be king because for almost 20 years the only thing that he did was run for his life. Running for his life? Well, that’s pretty personal now, isn’t it? David kept on believing that God would be with him thru this trials and testing and that he would emerge victorious. Of course, David did emerge victorious. Amazingly, victory is pretty personal, too.
