May 14th - Afternoon | LUXURY
James 5:5 – You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every whim. Now your hearts are nice and fat, ready for the slaughter.
Luxury sometimes has a negative vibe to it because it gets identified with a lust for material things. It’s rumored that the King of Siam once he spent half a million dollars for a single bath at the Golden Temple of the Menam River at a cost of $500,000 (in 1887!) for the sole purpose of enabling his ten-year-old son to take a single ritual bath. The structure was used that one time and was never used again. The Temple of the Bath is surrounded by four smaller pagodas, all encrusted with heavy plates of gold and gems. In the center is the fabulous marble and gold swimming pool where the solemn $500,000 bath was administered to the prince. This is indeed luxury but isn’t that how supposed to be how a king lives? The Bible says that we are children of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords if we receive Jesus (John 1:12). Upon receiving, we become heirs to the luxurious life of our King, but meanwhile as you’re here on earth – share your blessings.
