May 19th - Morning | PRECIOUS SON

2 Peter 1:1
This letter is from Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to all of you who share the same precious faith we have, faith given to us by Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, who makes us right with God.

An heirloom is precious because of its value and because they’re from a person dear to you. Something precious is typically priceless and indeed it is as Peter was writing about precious faith. Faith is something given to us by Jesus and if any person receives that faith, their lives will change. I read a story about a wealthy old man who died and willed everything from his estate to be auctioned. The first item to be auctioned was a childlike drawing of the old man’s son. People unknowingly, however, we’re anxiously waiting for the well known pieces of art before starting their bidding and they certainly weren’t going to be on a drawing of a person they never seen before. Nobody bid on the drawing until a voice emerged from the rear of the crowd – it was the old nanny of the son of the rich man – and she knew who the person was in the portrait. She said “I’ll bid for that drawing” and easily won the bid without competition. The auctioneer handed the drawing over to her and pounded the gavel announcing that the auction had ended. The bidding attendees shouted and complained about the auction and that wanted to bid on other pieces in the catalog. The auctioneer told the angry crowd, “The deceased’s will was that whoever bid and won the drawing of his son would get all the paintings.” Want everything out of life? Claim the precious Son.
