"Why are you sleeping?" he asked. "Get up and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you."

To marry the Greek mythological female character Atlanta, a man would have to win a footrace against her. However, if that man should lose the race, Atlanta would kill him. Her winning suitor was advised to use three golden apples during the race to tempt the huntress. Each time Atlanta ran ahead, he would throw a golden apple to distract her and charmed by the glitter, she would stop to pick it up and eventually lost the race. Jesus woke up the disciples to pray because through prayer we become connected to the “all knowing God” and whatever temptation presents itself, God immediately impresses upon us that its worthlessness compared to what He has prepared for us with Him. Don’t be overpowered by temptation, commune with God and have His mind.
