June 13th - Afternoon | ENJOY YOUR WEALTH
Ecclesiastes 5:11
The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what is the advantage of wealth—except perhaps to watch it run through your fingers!
“There is poverty in riches and riches in poverty” is one the quotations that I love. What King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 5:11 rings so true – the more we have the more people come to help us consume it. You just have to choose the people with whom to expend it with. Matthew 26:7-13 gives us the best example: “During supper, a woman came in with a beautiful jar of expensive perfume and poured it over his head. The disciples were indignant when they saw this.” What a waste of money," they said. "She could have sold it for a fortune and given the money to the poor." But Jesus replied, "Why berate her for doing such a good thing to me? You will always have the poor among you, but I will not be here with you much longer. She has poured this perfume on me to prepare my body for burial. I assure you, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman's deed will be talked about in her memory." Whatever you spend for God will have an eternal significance, so enjoy the blessings you have. |
