June 21st - Evening | RESIST THE DEVIL
James 4:7
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you.
The devil is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Sound scary? Sure, but not really. Apostle John told us in 1 John 4:4, “But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won your fight with these false prophets, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” We may say that we are too weak to fight him, but Apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 12:10, “Since I know it is all for Christ's good, I am quite content with my weaknesses and with insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Still, the devil may seem difficult to resist with his temptations and false portrayals. When those times come, remember another verse from Paul that you can apply to resisting those moments: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13) |
